PLANET

At Echoknits, environmental responsibility is woven into every aspect of our operations. We are committed to minimising our footprint by investing in cleaner technologies and smarter resource management — not just for compliance, but to help future-proof the planet.

We have pledged a 30% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030 and are working toward Net Zero energy use by 2040. To achieve these goals, we are implementing a series of targeted initiatives across energy, water, and waste systems.

At Echoknits, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint through various energy-saving initiatives. Our focus on energy efficiency and using renewable energy is integral to our sustainability goals, helping us build a cleaner, more efficient future.

Our Energy Initiatives

We have taken a comprehensive approach to energy efficiency, upgrading equipment and infrastructure to reduce emissions without compromising production capacity or product quality:

  • 100% LED Lighting
All lighting across the facility has been replaced with energy-efficient LED systems to reduce electricity consumption.

  • Operator-Controlled Lighting & Ventilation
Each workstation is fitted with individual light and fan controls, enabling operators to switch off unused stations and prevent unnecessary energy waste.

  • Steam Recycling System
In partnership with Forbes Marshall, we’ve implemented a steam condensation return system that recycles heat energy from the finishing section back to the boiler, reducing fuel demand and energy loss.

  • Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP)
Our in-house ETP processes up to 5 cubic metres of wastewater per hour from the washing section, ensuring safe discharge and reducing impact on water systems.

  • High-Efficiency Machinery

    • Knitting: We utilise advanced Shima Seiki machines that consume significantly less electricity while maintaining high-speed precision.

    • Linking: Energy-saving servo motors have replaced conventional AC motors, further reducing power use during the linking stage.

    • Laundry: Our Italian Tonello washing machines consume approximately 35% less water compared to conventional systems.

    • Drying: We operate with Italian Triveneta dryers, which require less steam per garment, reducing both fuel use and water input.

Looking Ahead

Our environmental ambitions extend beyond current initiatives. We’re actively investing in long-term solutions that will future-proof our operations and reduce reliance on non-renewable resources.

  • Solar Energy Expansion
We are in the process of installing a 700 kWh rooftop solar system across our facility. Once operational, this will allow us to generate over 50% of our total energy needs from renewable sources — a significant step toward our Net Zero energy target. With our total energy consumption currently at approximately 1,300 kW, this transition marks a major shift in reducing grid dependency.

  • Rainwater Harvesting & Water Recycling
We are preparing to launch a dedicated water management project focused on rainwater harvesting and closed-loop water recycling. This will reduce our reliance on groundwater, help stabilise water usage year-round, and support cleaner production across all wet processes.

planet certified

We believe sustainability must be transparent, traceable, and verifiable. Echoknits partners with globally recognised certification bodies to ensure our processes and products align with leading environmental standards.

  • Higg Index

The Higg Index measures our sustainability performance, providing insights into environmental impacts across our value chain and helping guide improvements in resource efficiency.

  • ZDHC

The Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals certification demonstrates our commitment to eliminating hazardous chemicals from our supply chain, ensuring responsible chemical management and a cleaner production process.
